UIB 2019 Year in Review

From people to customers and partners to technology, 2019 has been a pivotal year of accelerating growth for UIB. Taking a look back at the year, I wanted to share with you a few highlights from UIB’s 2019:

The UIB Executive Team at our WhatsApp event at Facebook's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore

Our successful commercial developments are powered by the creativity, drive, and passion of our people, and this year we were honored to add to our team Director of Finance Jay Wong, Head of Corporate Partnerships Muzzamel Mazidee, Indonesia General Manager Azman Ilyas, Business Development Manager Caroline Patrick, and Board Member Georg Metz. Board Member Daisy Jiang took on the additional role of Director of Operations and we said a heartfelt good-bye to departing Board Member Albrecht Buchner, who will continue to be a trusted advisor.

UIB grew this year to meet increasing customer demand in Malaysia and Indonesia with the opening of new offices and subsidiaries. Key customers and related use cases included Samsung with their industry-leading UnificationEngine®-powered WarrantyBot, du telecom, the Dubai Water and Electric Authority (DEWA), Bosch and the Singapore Art Museum amongst many others.

While UIB delivered keynotes, led workshops, and hosted panels at over 30 different global industry events and conferences throughout the year, our favorites included our UIB WhatsApp Event in Singapore at Facebook’s Asia-Pacific headquarters and our UIB “Digitizing Your Business with WhatsApp” event in Kuala Lumpur at the New Entrepreneurs Foundation. UIB also participated for a record-setting third time in the Dubai Future Foundation’s DFA Cohort 6, which resulted in our first government client.

Ken at the OSRAM IoT Awards in Berlin

UIB brought home over 20 different company and individual awards in 2019, from the ASEAN Rice Bowl Startup Awards for Best IoT Startup to having myself and Aby named “2019’s 30 Most Inspiring Business Leaders and Ken being named to DigitalScouting.de’s “Top Digital Influencers” list and Agency Spotter’s “Twitter’s Most Influential Marketers” list every month of 2019.

Toby and Margit at Southeast Asia on the Rise in Kuala Lumpur

UIB conducted over 20 analyst briefings with principal analysts at Gartner, Forrester, KPMG, Capgemini, and other top research firms, resulting in new coverage such as being named one of KPMG’s Top Global Innovations 2019 and being quoted in Capgemini’s Global Voice and Chat Assistant Report.
