UIB Recognized at the 2019 Global Startup Awards
Following wins at the national (Singapore) and regional (ASEAN) levels, UIB Finance Director Jay Wong represented UIB at the 2019 Global Startup Awards’ (GSA) Global Grand Finale December 11-14, 2019 in Changsha, China.
The GSA is the largest independent entrepreneurial ecosystem competition in the world to select and reward high-tech companies with outstanding achievements in business and services every year. GSA invited 64 national and regional winners from 30 countries. Participants participated in the Award Ceremony and Ecosystem Summit for entrepreneurship, innovation, and cooperation.
Themed “Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Industrial Connectivity”, the event focused on state-of-the-art technologies in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and FinTech. An opening ceremony, roadshows, special activities, parallel activities at three industrial parks, and an award ceremony were held.
In the forum, Operation Director of the Alibaba Cloud Innovation CenterSha Wei pointed out that we are moving to an era of ‘Intelligence+.’ This involves the use of AI, IoT, Cloud terminals, 5G, and the Internet of Everything (IoE).
Alibaba also showed one of its inventions, dubbed the City Brain, which uses AI to gather information across Hangzhou, such as video from intersection cameras and GPS data on the locations of cars and buses. Utilizing comprehensive real-time city data, City Brain holistically optimizes urban public resources by instantly correcting defects in urban operations. This has led to numerous breakthroughs in urban government models, service models, and industrial development.
